Walk to D’feet MND
Well, we cracked it with the weather this year! You know what they say – 3rd time lucky!! Yes, it was our 3rd annual Walk to d’feet MND on Sunday 9th June 2013 and everything went according to plan. And that was including the weather!
It was slightly cloudy as the team gathered at the Tyne Riverside Park, Newburn, on Sunday morning but spirits were high and the kids and the dogs were running around giving off a great air of excitement. After the obligatory group photo we started the walk. A nice steady pace was set and amongst a great deal of chatter we started the walk along the old wagon way to Wylam.
At the half way point in Wylam Riverside Park we stopped for a picnic lunch and a well earned rest, then the sun came out and the clouds disappeared so off we went again to finish the walk back into Newburn, and a well earned ice cream from a very well placed ice cream van at the end!
I would like to give a HUGE thank you to everyone who took part in the walk and are helping to raise money and awareness of MND.
Look out for the next issue of the newsletter as hopefully I will be able to give you all the grand total of what was raised on the day, it is already around the £3000 mark! All money raised will go the Tyne & Wear Branch of the MND Association to help and support people living with MND and their families in the North of England.
It was just too much for some!
