Bucket Collection at The Seekers 50th Anniversary Tour

On the 10th May 2014, the Tyne & Wear Branch were invited to do a bucket collection at The Sage, Gateshead.

Judith Durham, lead singer of The Seekers, sadly lost her husband to motor neurone disease in 1994, after which she became patron of the Australian MND Association. She invited local branches throughout Britain to come and do a bucket collection on their 50th anniversary tour when the band played in their area.

Our merry band of helpers, Martin Boyes, Karen Boyes, Anne Hardy, Katy Turnbull, Susan Turnbull, Catherine Sweeney, and myself spend the night outside the doors of Hall One in The Sage. With an encouraging smile at the concert attendees we managed to collect a fantastic total of £808.20, 10% of which will be given to Judith Durham for the Australian MND Association.

I would like to thank the merry band of helpers for giving up their Saturday night and helping out.

Marian Dent
Branch Secretary
