Hadrian’s Wall Sponsored Walk for Angie
Our beautiful friend Angie has recently been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
Linda S, Angie and I have grown up together and have been very close friends for 50- odd years (but who’s counting!). Linda C, was a tad late to the party and joined our friendship group only 40-ish years ago!
Sadly, in April 2019 after experiencing some mobility issues, Angie and her family received the devastating diagnosis of MND. Since then many tears have been cried, much cake eaten and countless gins drank. We feel now is the time to do something that we hope can go some way to helping Angie, and anyone else suffering from this awful condition.
We planned to walk a 50 mile section of the spectacular Hadrian’s Wall in Northumberland; from Birdoswald to Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Our walking adventure was originally to begin on Sunday 5th April 2020, but sadly COVID 19 got in the way of that. We rescheduled and we began our journey on Monday the 10th August 2020.
Helping make this possible was our “logistics co-ordinator” John, who was in charge of tent erection and much-needed sustenance and refreshments.
We finally made it to Newcastle, joined by 30 of Angie and Bri’s wonderful friends and family. It was a fantastic day, thank you all.
This was a challenge for us but nothing like the challenge that people and their families face every minute of every day who have to deal with this terrible disease. The MND charity is amazing providing vital support to anyone living with MND.
Your donations of £5535 helps make this continued support possible. Our challenge may be over but Angie’s isn’t, so please keep raising awareness in any way you can.
